Proud business owner and president of Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc., Andy Weir in downtown Traverse City, Michigan

Last week, Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc. President Andy Weir announced to employees that this year all employees will receive election day (November 6th) as a paid day off. In past years, leadership has allowed flexible time to vote; however, this year Mr. Weir decided to give the entire day to ensure that employees carry out their civic duty. “Since the country’s so polarized, I wanted to send a message about how important it is to get out and vote, even though I know how much my employees vote anyway.”
The news was so well received that many of the companies and agencies that Commonwealth works with—including Q and M, an advertising agency in Ann Arbor—have also extended a paid day off to their employees so they can get to the polls. The announcement was also featured by Crain’s Detroit Business on Sunday, October 28.
