2018 ACRA Conference – Closing thoughts and highlights

By Alison Haller, M.S., Director of Marketing and Communications at Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc.

This year, Don and Andy Weir – Presidents; Brandon Gabler – VP of Operations; Susan Bamann – Renewable Energy Lead/Regional Director (North Carolina); and Anne Lee – Principal Investigator (Ohio) all attended the 24th annual American Cultural Resources Association (ACRA) Conference in Cincinnati. Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc. is a proud founding member of ACRA, and we feel this is a great opportunity to attend a convention that brings together CRM practitioners to exchange ideas and meet new colleagues. Some of this year’s highlights included:

  • Commonwealth’s Brandywine Raceway Rehabilitation Project and book, From Creek to Tap, The Brandywine and Wilmington’s Public Water System, commissioned by the City of Wilmington, Delaware, was the recipient of the 2018 Industry Award-Public Sector from ACRA.
  • Our own Don Weir presented “Promoting Synergy Between the Academy and The CRM Industry: How Do We Make It Happen,” which highlighted methods to improve the working relationship between the Academy and the CRM industry. Mr. Weir represented the CRM industry and presented alongside a panel that included Duane Peter of DP Heritage Consulting; two panelists representing the Academy; Dr. Karin Larkin of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs; Dr. William Chadwick of Indiana University; and Dr. Frank Pierce-McManamon, Director of Digital Antiquity.
